Due to the upsurge in COVID (Omicron) in late 2021 please check our 'in person' meetings remain on before travelling. (Updated 17 December 2021). 2) Ongoing Library closure/alternative arrangements Due to circumstances entirely outside our control the Society's own library is currently closed pending relocation. A limited service remains available mostly surrounding access to photographs, with details given in the Society Newsletters or available from the Librarian. To email Gerry Nichols - Librarian During this closure period alternative arrangements are in place with the RCTS. Full details of how to use the RCTS' Library (located at Leatherhead) as an SLS member, together with latest dates of opening, are contained within the latest SLS Newsletters. This link is to the RCTS Library web-page. Our grateful thanks are expressed to the RCTS for this reciprocal arrangement. The SLS Newsletter will continue to include progress updates for the RCTS Library opening dates/times(together with information a replacement SLS facility as and when, details can be released (Updated to 18 August 2021). Forthcoming "Meet the Society" and extra events (Section updated 24 December 2021). In addition to our regular series of Centre meetings we will also be at the following events and one-off meetings:- 2022 Any event attendances are currently TBC; possibly the Chiswick Collectors Fayre (March) Not attending in 2022 16 - 18 Apr - COVID permitting the York Model Railway Show. (Easter) Event cancelled due to circumstances outside the organisers control.

1) Please DO NOT USE the contact details for our late General Secretary (Chris Jenkins) as included in archive copy Journals. Our current General Secretary is Ted Buckley - email details are here.
2) Library - information/update - The latest updates are on the Library page and in the Society Newsletter.
3) As shown in the header a consultant has been employed to redesign the website for Wordpress. As part of this process several sections and pages introduced in the early days of this site will be removed - the internet has moved on and they are no longer needed. (Section revised 20 July 2021)

20 Feb: Updated contact details for the Manchester Centre on our Meetings and venues page.
12 Feb: Updated contact details for the Newcastle Centre on our Meetings and venues page.
10 Feb: A further update to the Perpetual Calendar and other related content as the organisers have had to cancel the 2022 York Model Railway Show.
8 Feb: Further changes to the order of the headings and links on those pages not updated on the 6th so as to aid consitency across the site .
6 Feb: Various changes to the order of the headings and links. An update to the About us & contacts page regarding reciprocal membership links and benefits. Link to the LCI added to the side bar navigation menu. Text amendments to the Public Sales/Publications page.
31 Jan: - Updates to the Photograph Collection section including revised order and information forms and the addition of two new lists, C23 & C24. As all January events are now completed the regular update to the Perpetual Calendar for the month change.
19 Jan: A further update to the Perpetual Calendar as the March Zoom presentation on the topic of the Turbomotive has been rescheduled for 19th October.
16 Jan: The error notified to us regarding a file in the Photograph Collection section, a corrupted list of lists, has now been fixed and replacement loaded.
9 Jan: (2) Further update to the Perpetual Calendar, Newcastle's meeting on Friday (14th) now postponed to 28th January due to COVID considerations. Same speaker and topic details.
9 Jan: (1) Update to the Perpetual Calendar adding in three new meetings for the reopened and relocated South Lakeland (Kendal) Centre. The meetings venue page also updated with the new location for 2022's meetings in Kendal.
7 Jan: Update to the Perpetual Calendar, Teesside's meeting on 18th January now off due to COVID considerations.
6 Jan: Welcome to a new year, 2022. Today's updates are (1) a note that the organiser of our Ayrshire meeting next Monday has confirmed it is still on. (2) with today being Epiphany the seasonal header to the site has reverted to the standard message. (3) A well as Ayrshire we have meetings scheduled next week in Godalming and Newcastle upon Tyne; currently no messages received to say they have been cancelled or postponed. 26 Dec: The Perpetual Calendar updated today with the addition of extra meetings in the listings for both the Teesside venues and new 2022 entries for our Godalming Centre.
25 Dec: Wishing everyone a happy Christmas Day.

24 Dec: (1) The Perpetual Calendar updated today as our December events programme has concluded. Early 2022 events now also added for our Newcastle Centre, however, ALL 'in person' events remain liable to COVID cancellations/postponements at the last minute so please check with Centres before travelling.
